Rifa Safari Area

Rifa is our best area and arguably the best big game hunting area in Zimbabwe.

Rifa is a National Parks Safari Area in the World renowned Zambezi Valley. Rifa stretches from below the Kariba Dam wall to Chirundu, all along the Zambezi river. This giving Rifa an estimated 40 km of river frontage bordering Zambia in the North and west. In the east, Rifa borders Nyakasanga safari area and Makuti safari area in the south. This means Rifa is surrounded by wildlife areas.

With a fairly small quote, Rifa ensures great quality hunting and trophies. Rifa is an all round great big game safari area, with some of the best lion in the world taken here. Lion are abundant in this area with only 2 tags here, Lion is a certainty. Lion hunts will have Buffalo to hunt as well as Hippo for baits.

Elephant bulls are of great quality in this area and hunting elephant bulls in this area is the true Elephant hunting experience. The Ivory average in this area has been over 50lbs for the past 2 years. Elephant hunts are also sold on combination hunts with Buffalo, Leopard, Lion and Hippo Croc hunts.

Leopards are abundant in this area due to an enormous amount of food availability for them. In this area cat hunts are only allowed during daytime hours making it more interesting and exciting. There is nothing as beautiful as seeing a Leopard during daylight in his own environment. Even though daylight hunting makes it more difficult, our success rate in this area has been very high.

Buffalo are of very good quality in this area due to very good management. The best buffalo  in Zimbabwe for 2009 was taken in this area. Buffalo are limited in this area and for therefore sold on a minimum of 10 days unless they are combined with other big game.

With a high concentration of Hyena and Hippo, this area offers a good bag for the big game hunter. Although a variety of plainsgame species are limited here, expect to get zebra, kudu, warthog, baboon, bushbuck, waterbuck and grysbok. Rifa will also be remembered for its vast numbers of impala with single herds ranging between 50 and 100 animals.

Rifa has 2 camps. The main camp consists of 3 Luxury Safari tents with a lounge dining area overlooking the Zambezi river. The fly camp consist of 2 luxury safari tents with its own dining room. This camp is used for those hunters that travel alone.
