Good to know
Season
Hunting takes place throughout the year, but the colder months (April - September) are preferable.Firearms
Namibia
n Namibia expect shots from between 100 - 350 meters. Especially for Springbok and Mountain Zebra. In Namibia, some shots can be very open and far making flat shooting fast calibers more appropriate but for some species brush will be a problem. 2 rifles should be considered unless an all round rifle with different weights bullets can be brought.Rifles in calibers 30.06, .300 Win Mag and 7x57 are suitable for plainsgame and leopard.
Zimbabwe
In Zimbabwe the average distance for shots are between 60 - 200 meters. With thick brush always present, a slower heavier bullet is better as it will not deflect as easy.Rifles in calibers 30.06, .300 Win Mag and 7x57 are suitable for plainsgame and leopard. The .375, .416 and 93x62 are ideal for larger game such as elephant, buffalo, eland and giraffe. Bring about 60 rounds of ammunition per rifle.
Scopes
All rifles must have a scope mounted. For dangerous game 1-4x is enough. For any other game it must be at least 3-9x.For Namibia, a larger variable scope can be considered. For the Cat hunters, a scope with a larger optic is essential as low light is a certainty before sunset and sunrise
